THE PLOT AND BACK HISTORY
------
They have all been among us for centuries, the supernatural, humanoid beings, vampires, werewolves, mermaids, fairies and so many more, along with those that have been gifted, future seers, gifted with telepathy, the ability to control the elements and so much more. Back in the dark ages, they were all driven underground for centuries, or learned to merge and hide among the normal humans of society. But then came the year 2008, the month January, New York City, in one of the many busy subways a local man taking one of the late trains was attacked by thugs. In a rage and with few witnesses he blew the train and the thugs to pieces with electricity. All witnesses saw from the tunnel was a giant flash followed by sparks. When the train rolled to a stop it was blackened and smoking. The man was immediately taken into custody, his age... 16, he was not a man but a boy. A young boy with extraordinary powers.
The boy was identified as Tyson Moore and it was soon discovered that his family, mother and father also had gifts. The family was taken into the custody of the government and never heard from again. Fear and anger soon appeared afterwards among the general and normal public. The president of the United States issued a new law on June 17, 2008. That all supernaturals register with a new government branch named "Vires" which stood for "vigilant investigation registry and elimination squad". This group much like the CIA, was charged with keeping records of registered supernaturals , as well as making sure everyone was registered. The Vires idea caught like wildfire and soon most countries that could afford it created their own Vires government branch. When a supernatural/gifted registered with Vires, no matter the age they were issued a number, a tattoo upon their inner right forearm, this was the same in all countries around the world.
It wasn't soon afterwards that the ostracization and prejudice began towards the supernaturals from the normal population. Signs were soon placed up on stores, cafes, bars, and even malls that excluded the entry for supernaturals. The supernatural community a year after the registering law, began to fight back. Pockets of unregistered supernaturals started attacking government facilities, and even civilians in many of the states in the U.S. The president issued another law that Vires now had the power to arrest, or kill any disruptive supernatural, that was not registered. Tensions were high, and the streets saw more blood then usual, before an idea was propositioned by a supernatural named James Lockwood a supernatural in his own right from a very wealthy and prestigious family based in Oregon. He had come from a long line of witches and sorcerers, and was a very powerful man. The proposition was an academy for supernatural students. The president and his government agreed to fund the academy in under a month. James Lockwood's estate was renamed Tolero Academy and he was named headmaster. Tolero Academy was "born" in the year 2009.
The rules were simple, Tolero Academy would stand and accept registered supernaturals at the appropriate age levels, give them an education like normal humans of the population, but also train them and help them control and focus their powers and abilities, to help them "blend" with the normal society better. But the president and Vires wanted eyes inside, so normal humans from teaching backgrounds from the public were allowed to apply and register to teach at Tolero Academy in classes they would normally teach to normal high school students. The academy opened and was soon flooded by parents wishing their supernatural child could get a safe and proper education. Tolero Academy was the first and still only school of it's kind in the world.
But with acceptance, rejection is not far behind. Tolero Academy flourished and grew, accepting students from all around the world, through the registering files. But there were those that did not think the academy, nor registering and becoming "branded" was such a good idea. They had been around since the beginning in small pockets, but this time, they were larger and more organized then before, and their target was more important then ever, less then eight months after being open the academy was attacked. The first and oldest rebel group in the U.S led by a fire elemental called Issac Morris attacked the academy, he stormed it with only twenty-two supernatural men and woman, he succeeded in killing James Lockwood, along with some students and faculty in the process before fleeing.
It did not take long for Vires to be notified and the manhunt for Issac Morris began. His right hand man, Henry Turner, a werewolf was captured, and tortured by Vires but did not give up the location of Issac Morris and his rebel group. Henry Turner was killed soon after by a silver bullet to the head.
Now three years after the incident, with Tolero Academy's founder long passed on the academy is still going strong with a new headmistress. News reports fail to report anything new about Issac Morris whereabouts. But whispers and rumors persist. Tolero's walls also rattle with rumors and mutters. Vires is still around and stronger then ever, unregistered supernaturals still cause havoc and chaos now and again, but most is quiet for now. Prejudice against supernaturals still exist and like racism will never fade away. There are those who want to change it, both human and not. But time will tell, if the world can exist together or apart.
