It was a beautiful afternoon an the local beach. The air was cool, but not cold, the sun a light amber-orange, and the blue water was becoming tinted with the colors of the sky.
Lacey felt the sand cool between her toes, for she had shed her converse soon after ariving and was now carrying them in her left hand. She could hear the waves lapping at the shore, and the sound of seagulls chirping in the distance. As she looked out over the water, a flood of emotions stirred inside of her. She remebered her family walking happily down the coastline of florida together, all the fun that they had, but she also remembered the day that it all started to fall apart. And now she was near the water for the first time since her brothers death, and it was a miracle: she was actully having an enjoyable time.
Lacey looked up at Trevor, her eyes meeting his, and she smiled. "The sun is going to set soon," she commented, "Hey, thanks for-" Lacey was cut off as a big wave rushed a few feet ahead off the others and pooled momentarily around her ankles. The tide was rising as night came, "Oh! wow, that water is cold!" she said, laughing lightly as she rolled her wet jeans a little higher up her calf.

As they walked along the cool sand, Trevor had left his converse near the wooden stairs that helped people get past the rocks to the beach part. He knew his shoes would be safe, it was getting late and not too many people came to the beach at this time. As they walked at a slow pace Trevor took in the fresh ocean air, the sand under his feet and the company of Lacey, she was a nice girl and it was a shame she wasn't a supernatural or going to Tolero. But he did like hanging out with her regardless.
He looked to her when she said the sun was setting soon, his bright blue eyes looked past her to the sun, it had a warm orange glow to it as it almost hit the horizon of the ocean. He was taken back when he heard Lacey speak again to thank him. He tried to hold back a laugh when she said the water was cold and preceded to roll up her jeans. Trevor finally let out a laugh before crouching himself, he too rolled up his jean pant legs. He looked up to Lacey, squinting as sun rays stretched over the beach.
"Well of course it's cold" he stood after fixing his pants. "It's getting later in the day silly" he teased before playfully nudging her. "If ya want I can throw ya in there?, then you can tell me how cold it really is?" he jokingly threatened, a smirk appearing on his features.

Lacey looked into his vivid blue eyes as Trevor squinted into the sun, and the amber light outlined his features. She really did love blue eyes, especially when they looked at her as affably as his did. She looked at him, willing herself to be angry as he laughed at her misfortune, but she couldn't help but laugh at herself along with him, "Man, that wave just attacked me!" she joked, poking fun at her self.
Lacey grinned, her light eyes sparkling, as he teased her good naturedly. " Trust me, if I go down i'm taking you with me!" She retorted, splashing him with a handful of icy water, laughing. She looked at him, grinning, making sure that Trevor wasn't upset at her. She didn't think he would be, he seemed to have a good sense of humor, besides, it wasn't like she had thrown him in the ocean or anything.
Lacey shivered slightly as a cool wind brushed her wet ankles, and she coughed into her arm. She cursed the cold. Despite the fact that she had grown up with cold weather, it took a toll on her simply beacause she was a fire elemental. She rubbed her arms with her ever warm hands, trying not to let the fact that she was chilly show. Lacey wanted to make a small fire right now, but she knew that was not an option, so she instead willed her hands to be warm like weak, dying coals, and rubbed her skin until she was nice and warm once more. She smiled at Trevor, her eyes resting on him again, and dropped her hands back to her side.

Trevor smirked when Lacey said she'd take him down with her, he desperately wanted to push her into the water, for play, but knew that they'd be freezing by the time they got out. So he decided against it. He raised his arm to block the cold water she splashed him with. He tried his best not to let the water phase through himself, since he had been to training classes. The professors had told him to keep his phasing in mind at all times, sort of like a defense mechanism. It was almost second nature now to Trevor, much like his father. But he didn't want to scare or upset Lacey with using his ability infront of her.
His blue eyes watched as Lacey started to rub her arms, she shivered slightly. Trevor stopped walking, unzipping his navy blue hoodie he pulled it off. Under was a t-shirt, but he could deal with the cool wind, he didn't want to see Lacey cold. "Here, stick out your arms" he insisted holding his hoodie out ready for her to put her arms into. "Your shaking, coughing and rubbing you arms and hands together, I don't need you dying on me here" he joked a smile on his face, he hated seeing people uncomfortable. "And don't worry it doesn't smell, I wear Axe" he added giving a light chuckle.

Lacey watched, blushing slightly, as Trevor unzipped his hoodie and offered it to her. She hesitated, but when he joked about not wanting her to die on him, she took the jacket and put it on. In a way, he did have a point, plus, It did smell nice. "Thanks," she said, smiling gratefully, "Cold weather and I have never really seen eye to eye".
Lacey did feel bad about taking his jacket, now he would be cold. It was ridiculous! She was a fire elemntal, but her powers meant nothing if she had to hide them. At least she had someone so nice as to give her thier jacket. She really was glad to have stumbled upon Trevor in the music store.
As the sun set, Lacey thought it seemed to melt into the ocean, she watched wide wide eyes. She had never really stopped to watch the sunset; It was beautiful. She looked to Trevor again. He had been so kind to her, and so honest. Suddenly, Lacey felt guilty. She had lied to him, and about a big part of her. For a crazy moment Lacey considered telling him. She tried to reason it out; She wanted him to know, she really did, and it would be nice for at least one person in this place to know her secret so that she wouldn't feel so alone, but what if it scared him off? What if he wouldn't want anything to do with her? What if he turned her in... Lacey shook her head, trying to push the thoughts out of her head. Why was she rushing to ruin this?

Trevor smiled when Lacey mention that cold weather and her didn't mix well, he was glad she took his hoodie. He nodded in agreement "same here" he added. He stopped walking when he took notice that Lacey had stopped as well. His eyes looked from her to the sunset, it was really pretty, really intense, and he couldn't remember the last time he had actually watched a sunset.
Stretching out his arms he slowly sat himself down in the sand, it was slightly cool to the touch but it wasn't damp or cold. Leaning forward Trevor pulled in his legs, hugging his knees he looked up to Lacey "sit for awhile then we can go if ya want?" he asked no longer squinting for the sun was half way past the ocean's horizon. Trevor hesitated before speaking his question "so where do you live if you just up and left everything and everyone to come here?" he asked looking forward out onto the water.

"Sure," Lacey replied. She smiled and sat down on the cool sand next to Trevor and looked out over the grey-blue ocean. Her mind was somewhere else entirely when Trevor spoke, asking her where she was staying. "Oh, I'm renting a room in a ranchouse in the countryside," She explained. She thought of the small ranch that she now considered home. "It's nothing to fancy, but it's home." She added, shrugging with a small smile on her lips.
Lacey looked up at Trevor, remembering that he didn't like cold weather much more than she did. "You aren't cold without your hoodie are you?" she asked. Lacey could just feel the temperature dropping as night came. Maybe they should start a fire. Were fires aloud on the beach? Or they could go for a walk inland, where the temperature was warmer. Lacey smiled as she realized that she was simply looking for excuses to hang out with him longer.

He shifted in the sand to make room for Lacey. Trevor nodded when Lacey spoke about where she was staying. He wished he still lived at home, and that they were both there, he'd over her a place at his home. His mom would love her, at least Trevor imagined she would, his mom was a good woman, who enjoyed everyone's company. Trevor assumed he mom was the sole reason he was a such a polite and nice guy.
Trevor shook his head when Lacey asked if he was cold without his hoodie, he was lying and the goosebumps are his arms were a give away. He shrugged a smirk coming to his features "well we can be awesome and start a fire.... or you can just hold me, since you stole my hoodie" he teased nudging her playfully. Trevor liked Lacey's company, she seemed like a nice girl who had fallen on hard times.

"well we can be awesome and start a fire.... or you can just hold me, since you stole my hoodie" Trevor joked, nudging her playfully. Lacey pushed him lightly in return, laughing. "A fire sounds great," she said smiling. A firelit night on the beach sounded perfect, plus she could see the goosebumps forming on his arms.
"I'll go find some wood and kindling, and you make a fire pit," she said, standing and brushing the sand off of her jeans, "Oh, unless you wanna find the wood, or.." she added, hoping that she hadn't sounded too bossy. She smiled at him, hoping that the darkness would hide the slight blush that had flushed her cheeks.
Lacey again thought about how ridiculous it was that she was hiding her gift from Trevor. After all, if he did like her, she wanted him to like the real her. Lacey scolded her fluttering heart. What if she was just rushing to get herself caught by the vires, all because she liked Trevor. She pushed away the thought, and wondered again why she was just rushing to ruin this. She decided to focus on something else, like the charismatic guy that she was hanging out on the beach with.
"I'm just going to head up the beach for kindling, i will be right back" she told him. Humming slightly, Lacey headed off up the beach to see if she could find some fire wood. Once she was out of Trevors line of sight, she kindle a small fire in the palm of her left hand, for light and warmth as she scanned the ground for things to fuel a fire on the beach.

It did not take long for Trevor to make the pit, he made sure it was as professional as possible. He had done camping alot when he was younger, mostly with his dad and uncles, so making one quickly was no hard task for the him. Once it was done Trevor stood to admire his work, he smiled, hoping it would impress Lacey, he doubted it though. Wiping the sand off of his jean's he glanced over his shoulder to see if he could spot her. Trevor's blue eyes spotted nothing, and then he spotted a glowing light, as if it were fire. He squinted, maybe she managed to start one, but why up there?.
Curious and willing to help Lacey carry down some debris to make the fire Trevor walked himself up the beach. Once he neared her Trevor stopped in his tracks, her back was to him as she looked to be scanning the area for things to use, but that was not what alarmed him. It was the perfectly formed little fire ball that rested in her hand. His mouth hung open slightly, she was a supernatural, and a fire elemental at that!. Trevor's brow furrowed, but why would she lie to him?.
Maybe she was worried he'd tell, but he wouldn't do that, that would be the last thing, telling on a supernatural so the Vires could pick her up, no way, not in a million years. Clearing his throat loud enough for her to hear Trevor came up behind her, placing his hands on her shoulders "need help?" he asked, hoping this didn't scare her.

Lacey closed her hand on the flame, extiguishing it, when Trevor appeared behind her. She knew that he had seen the flame by now, and she didn't see any point in trying to hide it. Besides, hadn't she just been struggling to find a good way to tell him? Her only fear now was that he would be angry, no one liked to be deceived, but as Trevor offered to help his tone was friendly and Lacey knew he would understand.
Lacey turned to him, smiling apologeticlly, "I'm sorry," she started, "I wanted to tell you, but i didn't really know how..." she trailed off, and pushed a strand of her red hair behind her ear. Right then, Lacey began to feel really guilty. Sure, she had wanted to tell him, but had he not seen her how long would she have waited? Lacey really hoped that she hadn't lost his trust forever. She knew already that he wouldn't be angry towards her, but that didn't mean that he didn't care.
Lacey walked over to a log that lay a few feet away, tucked it under her arm, and returned to Trevor. "This will be enough to get it started," she added, implying that there was no real need for kindling, "Hey, your not upset are you?" she added, not wanting to dismiss the subject that still wieghed on her mind as if it were nothing. She was really mad at herself for lying, even for a minute, to a guy as nice as Trevor.

Trevor raised a hand before shrugging his shoulders "nah, it's ok, it's cool I get it, most supernaturals don't want to be found out... heck even some kids at Tolero still don't admit to their powers or race because they are so used to hiding and being afraid" he stated. He stood in place as he watched Lacey walk over to a well size log. When she came back Trevor smirked "here, I'll carry it" he offered before grabbing the log.
When it was firmly under his arm he started to walk back to where they had settled before, dropping the log Trevor shook his head. "No, like I said, I understand.... it's just nice to know now that were in the same boat" he admitted. Sitting himself down he rubbed his hands together "lucky for me huh?" he teased giving Lacey a playful wink. He truly enjoyed her company, and really didn't see a reason to get upset for what she had done.
