PERSONALITY: Riven seems to be very detached from the world, as if she’s stuck in the recesses of her own mind. This is true for the most part, as her guilty conscience haunts her nearly all hours of the day. Keeping her cool isn’t extremely difficult for her, for she usually doesn’t pay much attention to her minor problems. It’s like she isn’t completely there when you talk to her—and if you do befriend her, some may say that she doesn’t quite fulfill the other side of the relationship. More often than not she’s referred to as “half a person”, not ever expressing her own opinion.

HISTORY: Riven used to be the epitome of sweet and naïve, a pretty little girl that loved everything. Her parents loved her just as much, both spoiling her and making sure she did what she was told. When her powers manifested, she didn’t control them very well, to say the least. Nonetheless, her parents tried to help her by training her. Riven thought she’d had sufficiently mastered her power, but it was quite the contrary.
In her living room was a very large stained glass window. On it, there was a picture depicting a man close to death, awaiting the coup de grace. She’d always thought that it was a beautiful work of art, and often her training would occur somewhere where she’d be able to see it. It was something that helped her focus, for some odd reason. On some certain day, everything was going smoothly with her ability, her concentration never wavering for a second. Riven thought she was able to manipulate it at will, but she suddenly lost reign over her power and it caused chaos. Similar to a hurricane, objects randomly flew everywhere, a storm of turmoil that ravaged the house. Her dear window shattered into a thousand pieces, ending up on the ground in a myriad of colors.
Her family didn’t die, but they were left with nasty scars. Riven had felt that she couldn’t forgive herself, so she took off to the streets, wandering off to a bad part of the neighborhood. She met and befriended a boy almost her age, who never gave his name, but allowed her to live with him in his alley with the rest of his gang. He taught her to live under the mantra: “only the strong survive”. For a year stayed with the group, never once revealing her power. When she learned of what they were planning to do—attempt to murder an innocent supernatural working at a little coffee shop—Riven ran. She didn’t know what to do, now that she was alone.
Though she was struggling to survive, even she was able to read the headlines. “Attack on Tolero Academy”, and “Supernatural Rebellion!” were the two most memorable, and that sparked her interest. Her prayers were answered: not that she wouldn’t have to rely on thievery to live, but that she’d may finally be able to redeem herself.
REACTION/FEELINGS TOWARDS SUPERNATURALS: Neutral, but holds some sort of pride in supernaturals.
